WordPress SEO: a tool to manage your keywords

We have become a lot more focused on providing WordPress SEO solutions for our clients during 2014.

For a long time our approach was education; running regular SEO webinars to help our clients understand how to DIY the search engine optimisation in their websites. With the launch of our SEO and Content Marketing Service AssistantPress.me we’re now able to take a much more pro-active approach.

If you’ve attended one of the webinars you’ll know that a key part to your SEO strategy is to research and use a stable set of keywords. We do the same things for our WordPress sites and we found the remembering and storing of the keywords to be a bit of a pain in the neck.

So, we built a WordPress plugin to solve the problem.

SEO Workmate: a plugin for WordPress

What does it do?

It’s very simple really but solves a problem that we felt needed solving. There are two parts to the plugin. First of all you visit the settings page and make keyword groups. You can make as many as you like and give them names to reflect what they are. Think: primary keywords or location based keywords etc..

Once you’ve configured this, next time you are working in the WordPress editor the plugin will show you the keywords right there below the editor. Check out the screenshot below.

How to get it?

It’s being launched this week via our plugin brand HelpForWP.com. It will be available for a licence fee of $US15.  However for DMA clients we’re more than happy to install it into your WordPress site with no licensing cost. Let us know if you’re interested and we can have it installed for you.

Melbourne’s new domain name is live

We’ve been following the release of new domain names over the past couple of years. It certainly been a long slow process to have new working top level domain names.

Earlier this year I write this post “New domains names are here!” – in that post there was some information on the generic domains that were released. Suffixes like .photography, .clothing etc.. There’s quiet a list of those that are not available for registrations.

Melbourne’s new domain name

This news this week however is about Melbourne’s own top level domain name .melbourne. It’s been launched this week and is now available for registration.

We’re going to see more of these city based domain names over time; it gives local businesses and identities to register something unique. There will be competition to be sure; imagine owning something like taxi.melbourne – there’s a website / business idea just there!

There is already some live domains operating; Melbourne Festival’s new online home is http://festival.melbourne – cool huh?

How to get a .Melbourne domain name

There is a number of Australian domain name registrars that are supporting the new domain names; Net Registry and Melbourne IT both have registrations available. Check out this page on the live.melbourne website for details on registrars.

Why should you care?

Well if you don’t live, work or run a business in Melbourne you probably don’t care that much. These new types of domain names do give you more options when looking to brand and setup a new website. For example, a local business “Ron’s Cafe” might find that it’s hard to find a domain names that is still available for their website. Now there’s the extra option of registering something like RonsCafe.Melbourne – it’s short and descriptive of the business.

For business or brands that operate in a particular city, in this case Melbourne – this is well worth a look.
