It seems like October is the month of Awards. Here at the DMA we have attended two award evenings already with more to come during the month.
Firstly we’d like to say a big congratulations to our client Garfish. They won Best Seafood Restaurant at the NSW Restaurant & Catering Awards and the won Best Restaurant in the 2010 Manly Daily Business Achiever Awards.
Having been invited along to these events and spent some time with those involved in applying to be included in the awards, you certainly get a feel for how much work it is.
Some would ask: is it worth it?
I think in these times where the influence of word of mouth is prolific in social networks you would have to say yes it is.
It’s the old adage “you can’t buy advertising like that”.
When you have some good news like winning or being nominated in these kinds of awards, it’s incredible to see the support that a business can receive in mediums like Twitter and Facebook. Within minutes of the results being read out at an awards evening you, all of your followers and fans on Twitter and Facebook can be across just how well you’ve done.
Winning now is more then just hanging up the plaque in your venue for people to admire when the come in.
