Australian WordPress Hosting: we made the move

For the past few years we have hosted a lot of our client's WordPress sites in the U.S. Last weekend we moved into a Sydney Datacentre - the difference is amazing.

I’m going to come right out and admit that I was wrong.

For a long time I was of the opinion that hosting inside Australia or hosting overseas in the U.S. didn’t make much difference. We have been operating two WordPress hosting setups based in the U.S. for the past few years and they were quick.

Earlier in 2015 we had to investigate moving the hosting for a couple of clients. Due to their industry they needed to have their WordPress site and the data in it hosted geographically inside Australia.

Our main hosting partner WPEngine has infrastructure in Sydney, so we began talks with them about the possibilities. To condense what is a long tale, last weekend we moved our entire WPEngine installation to Sydney. Having local Australian WordPress Hosting has really paid off. To say that I was shocked was an understatement. Trust me, the sites when loading from the U.S. were quick. However the speed bump from moving into Sydney is amazing.

Around the same time we re-launched ModernWedding.com.au for one of our longstanding clients Wildfire publishing. When you’ve finished reading this, grab your phone or your laptop and load the site. It’s incredibly fast. ( Read more about the project in our portfolio section)

Sure, there’s more to the great hosting performance than just being closer. Our hosting setup has for a while now featured the brilliant caching and CDN technology of WPEngine. It all adds up to a service that we’re really very proud to offer our clients.
